Utah State University’s Space Dynamics Laboratory, an internationally respected engineering and development center, is seeking mid to senior level atmospheric scientist to participate on a research team conducting space, aircraft and earth-based active and passive measurements of the atmosphere. This is an opportunity to join an active and growing engineering and science team. You are encouraged to develop and pursue your own research, leading to scientific publications and proposals in the context of the project. Job Responsibilities: Function as principal investigator for atmospheric sounding and imaging experiments; participate as a member of an international science team; function as science-engineering liaison during program development; develop an integrated laboratory and university research team. Both domestic and foreign travel is required. Minimum Requirements: PhD in atmospheric physics or a comparable science or engineering discipline. Demonstrated experience in the measurement and modeling of atmospheric electromagnetic transmission and absorption. The candidate must have solid understanding and experience in chemical species detection, trace gas signatures, and other remote sensing applications of the atmosphere from space. Peer reviewed publications showing an understanding of the atmospheric measurement process and their meaning are required. An understanding of the process of writing and securing funding through the grant/contact process will be an important consideration. The applicant must be able to obtain a security clearance (US citizenship required).
