Systems Engineer (small Satellites or sensor systems IR emphasis)




The Space Dynamics Lab is seeking space systems engineering for design, development, fabrication, and integration and testing of advanced technology satellites. Scientific and engineering capabilities must span broad ranges of disciplines. Must be able to translate system needs into requirements and coordinate the technical aspects of design, fabrication, testing, and integration of satellites (both hardware and software) to meet these requirements. Includes detailed design and evaluation of assigned projects as well as supervision of engineering and technical staff. Must have knowledge of satellite ground systems, operations, and data processing.

Requires MS or PhD, in Engineering or Scientific Field and 10+ years of satellite systems engineering experience. Knowledge and experience with hands-on design, development, and testing of space flight systems are required. Knowledge of orbital mechanics, attitude control, command and data handling, power, radio, and propulsion systems as well as launch systems and launch operations are highly desirable. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and ability to present concepts and designs before critical audiences are required. Extensive travel will be required during all project phases, including foreign travel. Occasionally long periods of travel will be required to support operations in the field.
